An exciting day trip taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in Lower Silesia. The Karkonosze Mountains located on the Czech border constitute the biggest mountain range in the Sudetes. In the past it was also known as Giant Mountains. Together with the Czech part of the park, the Karkonosze National Park has been registered on UNESCO’s list of World Biosphere Reserves in recognition of fantastic rock formations, postglacial cirques, lakes, rare plant and animal species.

A scenic route will take us from Wrocław across the beautiful valley of Jelenia Góra to Karpacz, one of the most popular mountain resorts situated directly at the foot of the Karkonosze range. We will first visit the town's most famous attraction, Vang stave church. It is a unique relict of Nordic Romanesque architecture dating back to the 12th century, originally built in Norway and moved to Silesia by a Prussian king in 1842. The next part of the tour will be a delight for hikers and lovers of nature. We will take a chairlift and hike the last kilometre to the highest peak of Śnieżka (1602 m), through which Poland's southern border runs. There's a flying-saucer-shaped cafe on top, with splendid views north across Poland and south into the Czech Republic.
